You can use this function to create and search for orders. There are two search options for orders – basic search and enhanced search:

  • Basic search

In Order Processing, you can execute a basic search in a single screen by using standard search criteria based on customer, vehicle, and order in the Find/Create Orders group box.

You can also create new orders with this search option. This option searches in the database without using any search services or TREX.\

  • Enhanced search (TREX search)

You can execute an enhanced search in two ways:

    • Create a customer-specific variant and set as the default

    • Create multiple variants and, in a two-step procedure, execute a search by first selecting a variant and then clicking Find in the Find/Create Orders group box. The enhanced search supports attribute and free text searches.

You cannot use this search option to create new orders.

Activities

To search for an order, choose on the SAP Easy Access screen Start of the navigation path Logistics Execution Next navigation stepImage Removed  Vehicle Sales and Service Next navigation step Order Processing Next navigation step Order Processing End of the navigation path (/DBE/ORDER), and enter the appropriate organizational data.

  • Basic search

By selecting the Order Acceptance tab, you can access the basic search and create new orders or search for existing orders by entering the appropriate customer, vehicle, or order data.

  • Advanced Search

By choosing the Order Search tab page, you can access the enhanced search.

The enhanced search is displayed on a separate tab page in the same transaction. It is separated into two areas: the search criteria area and the result list. By default, there is a standard search screen with some of the most useful criteria for an order search, but you can also implement your own views/customer screens. On these customer screens, you can implement new attributes, provided that they are part of one of the following five basic VSS tables:

    • Header (VBAK_DB)

    • Item (VBAP)

    • Job (JOB)

    • Split (SPLHDR_DB)

    • Partners (VBPA).

Every field that is part of one of these tables can be defined as an attribute field. Furthermore, you can append further fields to these tables.

Info
titleNote

Generally speaking, you can declare all fields of these five main order tables as attributes, also customer fields that have been appended to the tables. You cannot include other tables in the search. If a new field is included in the search, TREX has to be indexed again manually; only after you have done this are the fields available as attributes in the search.

For more information, see Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS).

You can use selection variants in the enhanced search, not in the basic search. Selection variants are user-specific and can only be used by the user who created them. They contain all the criteria on all the screens of the enhanced search; in other words, also when you create your own views. All the criteria are used for the search, not just the criteria for the screen that is currently active.
