In addition to the base unit of measure, you can use alternative units of measure for parts and labor values. This allows you to order and purchase quantities in different units.

If you use a sales unit in the DBM VSS order, the system stores the order quantities for the order item in the sales unit.

Parts are defined in a base unit of measure which is used for internal organization (storage, replenishment, valuation). Other units are also defined within a material master with the according calculation rule based on the basic unit. When a part is sold to a customer, the DBM VSS order uses the sales unit. The system uses the sales unit to determine the price, while ATP check, reservation or purchase requisition are based on the base unit of measure (calculated value based on the entered sales quantity). The usage of sales units is also common for labor values (the customer pays labor values but planned quantity and target time are defined in minutes).
The service advisor can enter DBM VSS order items (labor or parts) with a sales quantity in a sales unit. The system determines the sales price based on the entered sales unit. The ATP check is performed within the base unit of the entered part item.
