Prerequisites

Use

You can use this process to post a vehicle in stock from one plant, or dealer's branch, to another plant when the plants are in the same company code. You may want to do this, for example, if a customer at plant B wishes to purchase a vehicle that is currently situated at plant A. The following graphic illustrates this case:

Prerequisites

  • The vehicle must be in stock before you can execute a transfer posting.
  • No open DBM service orders exist for the vehicle.
  • The sending plant and the receiving plant are in the same company code.
  • There is no settlement rule in the internal order.

Process

  1. A customer decides on the required vehicle.
  2. Salesperson A discovers that the vehicles assigned to plant A do not coincide with the customer's requirements. However, another vehicle in plant B fulfills the customer's requirements.
  3. Salesperson A telephones salesperson B to request permission to create a quotation and sell the vehicle.
  4. Salesperson A assigns the customer to the vehicle. The system uses the VMS action QACU (Assign Customer DBM)to do this.
  5. Salesperson A creates a quotation and shows it to the customer. The system uses the VMS action OFFE (Create Quotation) to do this.
  6. The customer accepts the quotation.
  7. Salesperson A creates a sales order. The system uses the VMS action QCSD (Create Sales Order DBM) to do this.
  8. So that the goods movement can take place and a goods issue can be created, the interlinking action QVTP (Transfer Between Plants) has to be executed. This action contains the following primary/elementary actions:
    • QCIO Create Internal Order
    • QIOG Group Internal Order
    • QCOR Check Settlement Rules
    • QROC Transfer Costs
    • QCCV Batch and Valuation Check
    • QPGM Cross-Plant Goods Movement
    • QLIO Complete Internal Order
    • Note: You can only make changes to closed internal orders manually; there is no function to support this or to make cancellations within DBM.

Result

The vehicle has been transferred from plant A to plant B and sold to the customer from plant B.
Note: You can check that the transfer posting has taken place by:

  • Displaying the vehicle master to check that the storage location and plant have changed automatically
  • Viewing the vehicle history to check that a material document, internal order and follow-on documents have been created.
  • No labels
