Reserved materials on operation/activity level

The hereby described feature is available for users of FSM Cloud Connector instances upgraded to Service Pack 3. Reserved materials for networks currently can only be sent on service call level.

Introduction

Reserved materials can be sent and processed with reference to an operation (SAP ECC/S4) / activity (SAP FSM). To enable this new functionality, check the ‘RmatAct’ field in transaction /PACG/ECM_SCTD for a company and order type of your choice.

Reserved materials sent with activity reference (‘RmatAct’ checked) are visible in SAP FSM only within the specific activity (the one related to the service order operation to which the component has been assigned in SAP). Reserved materials sent with service call reference (‘RmatAct’ unchecked) are visible for all activities related to the service call and can be used by each of them.

Process

Example scenario with reserved materials booked on technician’s storage location

1. Set the ‘RmatAct’ field in transaction /PACG/ECM_SCTD for a company and order type of your choice.

2. Create a new service order of type specified in /PACG/ECM_SCTD. Add a material in the ‘Components’ tab. Release the service order.

3. An idoc of type /PACG/ECM_ITYPE_RMAT_OUT is generated (together with outbound service call and activity idocs). Its ‘reference’ field points to the related activity’s code (not a service call, as it would be in the standard approach).

This relationship can be confirmed by FSM Query API.

4. From the SAP point of view, the reserved material is related to an operation. This relationship can be checked in table /PACG/ECM_ARMAT, field ‘OpAc’.

5. In FSM Planning and Dispatching the reserved material is reachable only from the activity to which the material has been assigned.

6. On the mobile app the reserved material can also be reached only from the single activity. It’s not visible for other activities related to this service order.

Remarks

To maintain consistency, the ‘RmatAct’ setting has permanent effect on service orders’ reserved material reference:

  • If a service order has a single reserved material entry with operation reference (entries in table /PACG/ECM_ARMAT with filled ‘Op/Ac’ fields), each new reserved material will be sent with operation reference, regardless of the ‘RmatAct’ setting.

  • Similarly, if a service order has a single reserved material entry with service call reference (entries in table /PACG/ECM_ARMAT with empty ‘Op/Ac’ fields), each new reserved material will be sent with service call reference, regardless of the ‘RmatAct’ setting. Consequently, the new functionality doesn’t bring any effect to old service orders with existing reserved material assignment (created with service call reference).
