/PACG/ECM_IBS – Batch or Serial Material

Introduction

This transaction serves the following purposes:

  • A material is both batch- and serial number-managed in SAP ECC/S4, and it must be determined how the material will be managed in SAP FSM (in SAP FSM an item can be managed only either by serial numbers or batches, not both).

  • A material has a serial number profile / batch management indicator assigned in SAP ECC/S4 but should be transferred to SAP FSM as Normal item (neither serial number-, nor batch-managed).

Note that this transaction doesn’t serve the purpose of a filter. Items not matching any customizing entry will be transferred to SAP FSM with properties described in the Default processing chapter (see below).

Company setting CoreSystems.BatchManagedItems.Enabled should be set to true, to enable Batch management handling on iOS or Android.

Default processing

Overwrite the default processing

The default processing can be overwritten by a relevant customizing entry in transaction /PACG/ECM_IBS.

BMR

Specify if the customizing entry is relevant for materials with Batch management indicator assigned

Profl.

Specify for which serial number profiles (assigned to the transferred material) the customizing entry is relevant

Item type

Serial - transfer the material as serialized to SAP FSM

Batch - transfer the material as batch-managed to SAP FSM

Normal - transfer the material as neither serialized, nor batch-managed to SAP FSM

Use case 1 - If a material is both batch- and serial number-managed in SAP ECC/S4, determine how the material will be managed in SAP FSM

In SAP FSM an item can be managed only either by serial numbers or batches, but not both at the same time. Therefore, this transaction can be used to determine if a material with batch indicator and a specific serial number profile should be transferred to SAP FSM as batch managed (by default it would be transferred as serial number-managed).

Use case 2 - If a material has a serial number profile / batch management indicator assigned in SAP ECC/S4 and should be transferred to SAP FSM as a Normal item (neither serial number-, nor batch-managed).

It might be desired to transfer a batch- or serial number-managed material as a regular, normal item to SAP FSM. In such a case, set Item type to Normal for a specific combination of serial number profile and batch indicator.
