DMS configuration

DSM configuration

Displayed after selecting DMS as storage method in General attachment configuration/Advanced storage type determ., pressing ENTER and saving.

When migrating from (S4)PACG 200 SP03 or older, make sure to run the following report, if DMS storage type is planned to be used: Migration of DMS attachments (due to key change)

This node will appear, if the storage type is set to ‘D’ (DMS) in ‘General attachment configuration’ or ‘Inbound configuration’. Make sure to customize which document type, document status and storage category should be assigned to inbound attachments. It can be done based on the related object’s cloud message type. If no ERP object ID is entered, an entry will be relevant for all objects (unless the attachment matches another, more specific pattern).

ERP object ID

Object to which a file is attached to.

(S4)PACG 200 SP08 File Type

Store DMS attachments using different document properties, depending on the inbound attachment’s file type, as well as set different deletion options for various file types.

The table below demonstrates priorities in the relevant DMS configuration entry determination, e.g. whenever an entry with the file type and company matching the ones of an inbound attachment can be found [3], it will be used instead of an entry where only file type is matching [7].

Document type

DMS document type to be used.

Document status

Status to be set for the document.

Cumulated

When enabled, the file added to an object in FSM will be added to the first DMS document found where the object is linked. Otherwise, a new DMS document is created for this attachment.

Default storage category DMS

Storage category links logical storage location with physical one.

Folder path

SDefine path to a folder in the application server where inbound attachments are stored before thay can be processed by DMS functions (one of the ones existing in transaction AL11).

Field ‘Folder path’ should not be left empty, otherwise DMS attachment processing may fail.

Deletion in FSM

Determine how deleting an attachment in SAP FSM (stored as DMS in SAP ECC/S4) should affect object links/references of the related DMS documents.

ADD-ON 200 SP08

[ ] - remove all links and the file from the DMS document. Attachments for all the links removed from the DMS document will also be removed from FSM.

R - Remove only the link to the object from which attachment was deleted in FSM

N - No action - Do not delete any link/file/document in SAP ECC/S4 after attachment deletion in FSM. This option will prevent document deletion, even if option ‘Delete DMS document’ below would indicate otherwise.

[ ] - default. If only one file (original) exists and the attachment was removed in FSM, delete the entire DMS document. If the document contained another file (original), which wasn't removed in FSM, then only the one deleted file is removed, not the entire DMS document. This behavior was the default in the previous FSM Cloud Connector versions.

R - remove only the link to the main object (the object from which the attachment was deleted in FSM) from the DMS document

I - remove only the file from the DMS document (not the entire document, nor any object link)

F- both the object link and file will be removed from the DMS document

E - remove the link, file and references. Both the object link and file will be removed from the DMS document. For all other object links in DMS document (e.g. references to other objects which inherited the attachment based on customizing in transaction /PACG/ECM_CUST_ATTA or hard-coded logic) delete request of attachment will be sent to FSM. These object links will however remain in the DMS document in SAP ECC/S4.

Action on DMS doc. / OLD LABEL Delete DMS document

Customize handling of DMS documents after deleting a DMS attachment in SAP FSM.

ADD-ON 200 SP08

[ ] - keep the document

D - delete the document if no object links and files would be left

[ ] - default, keep the document

F - delete the document if no files would be left after attachment processing

L - delete the document if no object links would be left

D - delete the document if no object links and files would be left

The deletion will be performed regardless of settings in option ‘Deletion in FSM’. This setting has higher priority and is resolved first. Keep in mind that setting the default option in field ‘Deletion in FSM’ may also trigger document deletion, as described above (if only one original file found in the DMS document). To avoid it, set it to other options.

Company-dependent DMS configuration

DMS configuration can be maintained for a specific company. If such an entry is found, it will be used instead of the default.
