This function posts costs or revenues to account assignment objects including cost centers and internal orders, for business transactions. In Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS), there are several account assignments:

• Bill-to party for internal order
• Internal order account assignment
• Assigning profit center

Prerequisites

You have created the organizational units (for example plants, controlling area, and company code) and the relevant master data (for example activity types, orders, and profit centers).

• Bill-to party for internal order

To use a bill-to party for internal orders, you have defined the internal order type that the system uses when it generates internal orders automatically. In the internal order type, there are predefined values for basic settings, such as settlement, field selection, status, and so on. You have customized bill-to party order types on the basis of the controlling area, the service order type, and the account assignment category in Customizing for VSS under Order > Basic Functions > Account Assignment > Internal Order for Bill-to Party > Define Internal Order for Bill-To Party.

You can use the account assignment category to differentiate between internal orders. You can also define an internal billing document for a service order type (possibly in conjunction with an account assignment category). This means that you must include a special action in the object control framework to execute this internal billing document. This action is a primary cost transfer posting that credits the service order and debits the specified account assignment object accordingly. The system calculates the price for the bill-to party. To use internal billing documents, you have defined the account assignment categories for the internal orders in Customizing for VSS under Order > Basic Functions > Account Assignment > Internal Order Account Assignment > Define Account Assignment Categories for Internal Order.

Furthermore you can specify an account assignment object and attach it to a special account assignment category in Customizing for VSS under Order > Basic Functions > Account Assignment > Internal Order Account Assignment > Assign Account Assignment Object for Internal Order. Afterwards the system determines automatically the account assignment objects in the VSS order by choosing this account assignment category.

• Internal order account assignment

You can define account assignment categories. Internal orders, for example, scrap or used vehicle repairs, can be assigned to different account assignment objects in Accounting (FI). For each account assignment category, you define the account assignment object that is debited, for example, internal order or cost center.

• Assigning profit center

The system derives the assigned profit center for the internal order in accordance with all relevant criteria or attributes of the service order. You have made the settings in Customizing for VSS under Order > Basic Functions > Account Assignment > Profit Center Control. The system always searches for exactly one profit center in the sequence you have defined in the Customizing for VSS under Order > Basic Functions > Account Assignment > Profit Center Control > Define Access Sequence.
