Business context
This functionality enables you to create VSS vehicle master with a corresponding equipment master record. Combination of VSS Vehicle with an Equipment creates a technical object which can be then used in integrated process scenarios such as Vehicle Rental or processing mobile service orders via SAP Field Service Management. VSS leverages additional functionalities which are available when equipment master data is in use such as: measuring points allowing for multi-counter tracking or equipment warranty.
Integration between VSS Vehicle and Equipment is supplemented with object synchronization allowing for bi-directional data interchange of individual fields or partner functions.
Precondition
Equipment is automatically generated for vehicle models with preassigned serialization profile. Standard equipment configuration (Plant Maintenance) is in place.
Usage
Equipment is automatically created during VSS Vehicle creation using either /DBE/VM or /DBE/VM_LEAN transaction. Equipment creation logic within QCRE action will be only triggered when appropriate lean condition entries are determined. i.e. vehicle model is relevant for Equipment creation.
Equipment data is displayed on dedicated VSS Vehicle screen with a quick access to an equipment master data:
Synchronization
Data between VSS Vehicle and corresponding equipment can be synchronized in bidirectional way. This functionality supports:
Partner function synchronization
Field synchronization
Partner function synchronization plays an important role in scenarios with integrated Vehicle Rental Process. Using dedicated partner functions, technical object can be enriched with following information:
Rental Contract customer – by deriving sold-to-party function from outbound delivery (vehicle transferred to rental customer)
Last Rental customer – information stored on technical object level to identify who was the last rental customer of the vehicle
Using field synchronization function specific field content can be moved in bidirectional manner between VSS Vehicle and Equipment.
In standard delivery following fields are synchronized between objects:
SERGE - Manufacturer's Serial Number
BAUJJ - Year of construction
BAUMM - Month of construction
PACG/RSM_ISRENTAL - Rental flag
Data synchronization is realized by means of:
Direction VSS -> Equipment – relevant actions executed against vehicle are responsible for data transfer to equipment master
Direction Equipment -> VSS – synchronization IDoc is generated if any of the fields contained in structure /DBE/ITOB_STR_SYNCH_EQUI gets changed
