Mass User Upload

The functionality of mass user upload from an xlsx file is available in transactions /PACG/ECM_MAINT_USER - FSM users and /PACG/ECM_ALV_USERS - Mass User Maintenance.

Step 1 - Prepare a list of FSM Users to be created

Download the template for Mass User Upload: . Fill it with valid FSM user attributes. The 3rd row must contain at least one valid technical attribute (i.e. technical name of a field from tables /PACG/ECM_USERS and /PACG/ECM_UCOMP). The order of columns can differ. Certain columns can be skipped completely if not needed. When entering FSM user data, provide either SAP username or personnel number, not both (if both are provided, SAP username will be used).

Step 2 - Upload the file

If the report is implemented via an SAP note, it can be accessed via SE38 → /PACG/ECM_MAS_USR_UPL. It wouldn’t be visible in the top bar of user maintenance transactions.

Navigate to /PACG/ECM_MAINT_USER - FSM users or /PACG/ECM_ALV_USERS - Mass User Maintenance → 'Go To' → 'Mass User Upload':

Select the file containing a list of FSM users to be created:

Click ‘Execute’.

Step 3 - Review and create users

The program imports data from the xslx file and conducts a validation check. If all entries are highlighted in green, you can proceed with user creation. To do so, click the ‘Create Users’ button.

If an entry on an account level already exists, only an entry on a company level is created. The one on account level is not overwritten.

Step 4 - Adapt user properties if validation check fails

User creation is not possible if at least one entry didn’t pass the validation check. In such a case you must adapt the data either directly in the displayed table (the list is editable) or in the source file. After manual changes, click the ‘Valid. Check’ button to perform a new validation check.

Selected reasons for failed validation check:

An SAP user doesn’t exist on a system or is locked or its ‘valid to’ date is in the past
A personnel number doesn’t exist on a system or its employment status is not active
Both SAP username and personnel number are entered in one entry but they’re not linked to each other by infotype 0105, subtype 0001
An FSM user already exists in a given company - the program is not able to overwrite such an entry
Values do not match domain, e.g. boolean fields accept only empty values or 'X', permission IDs must exist in /PACG/ECM_VFSMPG - FSM Users' permission groups
