Delivery Processing in VSS

You can use this function to create a delivery for a released service order or parts order. The system creates a delivery document that details the order items that are due to be delivered.

Integration

This function is integrated in the application component Logistics Execution (LE), which enables you to use the Warehouse Management System.

Prerequisites

  • In Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) under Order > Item Category > Define Item Category for Order, you have made sure that the item category Part for Delivery (D020) exists.
  • In Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) under Part > Assign Movement Types and Delivery Types, you have made sure that the schemas for goods movement types 0001 to 0004 have been assigned the technical item category Delivery Item (0014) and delivery type VSS Delivery Item (QOB) or VSS Parts Deliv GR (QRD).
  • In Customizing for Shipping (LE) under Basic Shipping Functions > Shipping Point and Goods Receiving Point Determination, you have executed the Customizing activities Define Shipping Conditions and Assign Shipping Points.
  • You can only create delivery documents for released VSS orders.

Features

When creating a delivery for a VSS order with delivery-relevant items, the system transfers the requirements from the reservation to the delivery. The system determines the delivery quantity for the item and checks the availability of the material.
You can define shipping conditions in the VSS order at header level. After the delivery has been created, you can still change the shipping point at item level.
A delivery is processed through one shipping point. The shipping point is either automatically taken from the Customizing settings by the system during order processing or you can enter the shipping point in the VSS order at item level.
When creating a delivery, the system runs an availability check. You can make subsequent changes to the delivery if, for example, you need to update the delivery quantity (actual delivered quantity in unit of measure (UoM)) or the delivery date. If you change the delivery quantity, the system runs another availability check. Overdeliveries (a delivery quantity greater than the order quantity) are not possible.

Note

You cannot change the material number or the plant/storage location in delivery items that you have created with reference to a VSS order.
You execute other activities in the goods receipt and goods issue process, such as picking, packing, shipping, goods issue for delivery, and canceling the goods issue, in the application component Logistics Execution (LE).
You can use the packing function for deliveries that refer to a VSS order.

Note

If delivery items result from packing, their value is not included in the VSS order.

You can also divide one delivery into several deliveries by executing a split delivery. In the delivery, you can execute a batch split.
As long as you have not executed a goods movement, you can change the actual quantity to be delivered or delete the delivery.
During each process step, the system updates the document flow of both the VSS order and of the delivery you created. In the document flow of the delivery, the system also displays the related VSS order with the comment External Transaction. You can navigate directly to the VSS order from there.
In the document flow of the VSS order, the system lists all related documents, such as reservation, delivery, and goods movement. You can navigate from there to each document and process it.
In the status overview of the VSS order, you can see the current status of each process step. An item that is relevant for delivery or goods movement can have the following statuses:

  • Open: No delivery has been created yet
  • Partial: Delivered quantity < item quantity
  • Complete: Delivered quantity = item quantity

After a partial delivery, the system updates the available quantity in the delivery item.
If the delivery item is complete, the system sets the final issue indicator for the relevant reservation item.

Note

You cannot execute delivery-related billing for delivery processing in VSS.

Activities

  • You create a delivery-relevant item with item category D020 for a released VSS order.
  • You create the delivery by selecting the items you want to deliver and choosing the Delivery pushbutton. The system copies the delivery date and the quantity to be delivered from the VSS order (available quantity minus the quantity already delivered).

    Note

The system only shows the Delivery pushbutton if the VSS order contains delivery-relevant items, meaning items with item category D020. On the other hand, if the VSS order only contains delivery-relevant items, the system hides the Goods Movement pushbutton.
  • You can delete the delivery by choosing the Delete Delivery pushbutton. You can also delete the delivery and individual delivery items in transaction Change Outbound Delivery (VL02N). The system updates the document flow and the status of the VSS order accordingly.

    Note

You can only delete the VSS order or reject an item after you have deleted the delivery or delivery item.
  • You post the goods movements in the application component Logistics Execution (LE) by using transaction Change Outbound Delivery (VL02N).
