Text Control
You can use this function to handle texts.
In order processing, for example, you use a standard text to link a long text to documents. Long texts serve as advertising texts or order texts for customer-specific notes and information on documents.
Integration
You can use standard text functions in order processing, the model master, vehicle master, labor value master, package master and in the memo pad.
You can access the long text directly from the area menu or from within a VSS order.
Prerequisites
You have made the appropriate settings in Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) under Text Control.
Features
- You can define how you want to control the VSS order texts (on header, split header, job, task and item level).
- In Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) under Text Control, you can create different text determination procedures, define how they are determined and define text access sequences to copy texts to the several levels of the VSS order. You can copy long texts from the vehicle master/options, vehicle model/options, package master (main or variant package), labor value master, material master (central texts, sales-dependent texts), material customer information, and customer master to the VSS order. You can also copy texts from the text pool to the VSS order.
- The long text of VSS order items of category P002 (Part) and P010 (External Service with Purchase Order) is copied to the purchase requisition item long text.
- For the model master, you can define how you want to control model texts and model option texts. You can create different text determination procedures and maintain how they are determined.
- For the vehicle master, you can define how you want to control vehicle texts and vehicle option texts. You can create different text determination procedures, define how they are determined and define text access sequences to copy texts to the vehicle master. You can maintain long texts on vehicle level in a separate text view. You can maintain long texts referring to features by using a separate function in the features view. You can copy vehicle and option long texts (with reference or without) from the model master when you are creating the model or an option.
- For the labor value master, you can define how you want to control labor value texts. You can create different text determination procedures and maintain how they are determined.
- For the package master, you can define how you want to control main package and variant package texts. You can create different text determination procedures and define how they are determined. You can maintain long texts on main package level or on variant package level on a separate tab page.
- For the memo pad, you can define how you want to control customer information and vehicle information texts. You can create different text determination procedures and define how they are determined. You can define text access sequences for transferring texts to the memo pad. Long texts can be found in the vehicle master, model master and in the customer master. The texts that are found are displayed in the memo pad. The found/displayed customer and vehicle information texts should be controlled logically by the constellation determined in Customizing for Text Control and the maintained texts in the vehicle, model and customer master data.
Example
Using long texts in VSS Order
To customize the use of long texts in a VSS Order, see Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service under Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) > Text Control > Control VSS Order. Here you choose the text object (this can be the order header, item, job, splitheader and task), and set the text types for these objects. The text types can be assigned at the detailed text determination procedures.
For text objects, you must set text determination procedures, an ID and a description.
For text determination procedures, you must assign text types on the detail of Text Determination Procedure screen. Here you can choose from the text types (which you have set for the text object), set the sequence number (this determines the sequence that is applied when displaying the text types in user transactions), the reference flag and the text access sequence.
Access sequences can be created after choosing Access Sequence, then specifying an ID and a description. On the detail screen of the access sequences you can set the partner function, the text object, the text type, text name, access sequence rule key, text determination rule key and the append flag. Then you append the text determination procedures to the order types for all order objects (header, split, job, task and item).
You can check and confirm the results using Create VSS Order or Open VSS Order (transaction /DBE/ORDER). On the header tab, click Header Text where the appropriate text elements for the Text Determination Procedure and the Order Type appear. You can edit, format and delete them.
The same method can be used for the model master, vehicle master, labor value master, package master and the memo pad using different text elements.
