Supersession

You use this function to handle supersession requirements in Vehicle Sales and Service. Changes to the design, form, and function of parts require vendors and manufacturers to replace obsolete parts with new versions of the same parts. This is particularly important for the aftermarket environment where technical innovations produce a constant flow of new parts of a better quality or in a different form that supersede older parts.

Prerequisites

You have made the relevant settings in Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) under Part > Define Supersession Chain per Manufacturer.

Features

When you enter a part item in a VSS order, the system determines first whether a supersession chain exists. Depending on you Customizing settings (see above), the system either displays a dialog box where you can select a part number, or the system automatically replaces the superseded part.
