Price Limit Check

Price Limit Check

Oftentimes customers set a limit to the amount they are willing to pay for repairs or for additional work (see Processing of Additional Work) that is identified during an inspection. They may choose not to have the work done if the costs exceed this amount or a service advisor might be able to make an exception and have the work done for that price. With this function, you can enter a price limit in the order and the system automatically checks if the limit is exceeded. Furthermore, you can decide whether the system uses the gross or the net price for the price limit check.

Integration

You can enter a price limit in the following functions:

  • When creating or changing a service order with order type Service Workshop (2000) or Internal Service Workshop (4000)

You can enter the price limit in the service order on the Header, Job, and Split tab pages, as well as on the Item tab page when you create a job.

Prerequisites

You have activated the BC Set Settings for VSS Price Limit Check (/DBE/VSS20_BASIC_SETTING) in your client.

Features

When the system runs the price limit check, it adds up the prices of all the split items that belong to a job and split header 1 and then compares the total price with the price limit you defined for the job. The system also compares the prices of the splits with the price limits for the splits.
The system runs this check when you save the order or execute billing. If the price limit is exceeded, the system issues a warning message when you save the order and an error message when you bill the order. You then have various options, such as:

  • You can talk to your customer and adjust the price limit of the job.
  • If the customer does not accept the price you suggest, you can, for example, reject or defer the job.
  • You can create an order split (see Order Split) for the job.

Depending on whether the order type is Service Workshop (2000) or Internal Service Workshop (4000) with or without internal billing and depending on the event (Save or Bill), the system compares the price limit of the job with different prices/costs when it performs the check. The following table illustrates these differences:

Order Type / Event
