Transfer Posting of Vehicle Between Plants
Transfer Posting of Vehicle Between Plants
You can use this process to post a vehicle in stock from one plant, or dealer's branch, to another plant when the plants are in the same company code. You may want to do this, for example, if a customer at plant B wishes to purchase a vehicle that is currently situated at plant A. The following graphic illustrates this case:
Prerequisites
- The vehicle must be in stock before you can execute a transfer posting.
- No open VSS service orders exist for the vehicle.
- The sending plant and the receiving plant are in the same company code.
- There is no settlement rule in the internal order.
Process
- A customer decides on the required vehicle.
- Salesperson A discovers that the vehicles assigned to plant A do not coincide with the customer's requirements. However, another vehicle in plant B fulfills the customer's requirements.
- Salesperson A telephones salesperson B to request permission to create a quotation and sell the vehicle.
- Salesperson A assigns the customer to the vehicle. The system uses the VMS action QACU (Assign Customer VSS)to do this.
- Salesperson A creates a quotation and shows it to the customer. The system uses the VMS action OFFE (Create Quotation) to do this.
- The customer accepts the quotation.
- Salesperson A creates a sales order. The system uses the VMS action QCSD (Create Sales Order VSS) to do this.
- So that the goods movement can take place and a goods issue can be created, the interlinking action QVTP (Transfer Between Plants) has to be executed. This action contains the following primary/elementary actions:
- QCIO Create Internal Order
- QIOG Group Internal Order
- QCOR Check Settlement Rules
- QROC Transfer Costs
- QCCV Batch and Valuation Check
- QPGM Cross-Plant Goods Movement
- QLIO Complete Internal Order
Note
You can only make changes to closed internal orders manually; there is no function to support this or to make cancellations within VSS.
Result
The vehicle has been transferred from plant A to plant B and sold to the customer from plant B.
Note
You can check that the transfer posting has taken place by:
- Displaying the vehicle master to check that the storage location and plant have changed automatically
- Viewing the vehicle history to check that a material document, internal order and follow-on documents have been created.
