Quality Inspection of Vehicle Service
To ensure high-quality vehicle service, you can carry out a quality inspection for the repairs and services performed in your workshops. The quality inspection takes place before the service order is billed and is carried out using an inspection plan and inspection characteristics.
Integration
The quality inspection in VSS is integrated in the quality inspection of the Quality Management (QM) component. For more information about the QM quality inspection, see SAP Library on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/s4hana. Under Product Assistance, choose a language, Enterprise Business Applications > Manufacturing > Quality Management > Quality Inspection.
Prerequisites
- You have activated the BC Set Settings for VSS Quality Inspection (/DBE/VSS20_BASIC_SETTING and /DBE/VSS20_S4_BASIC_SETTING).
- You have checked the settings in Customizing for Quality Management. In particular, you have made sure that there is an inspection type for VSS in Customizing for Quality Management under Quality Inspection > Inspection Lot Creation > Maintain Inspection Types. Inspection type 89_DBM is provided in the BC Set as an example.
- You have checked the settings in Customizing for Vehicle Sales and Service (VSS) under Service > Quality Inspection.
- For the material assigned to the vehicle model, you have maintained the inspection setup and assigned an inspection type. You do this in the Quality Management view of the material master. In the inspection setup, you specify that you want inspections to be carried out for this material. For more information, see SAP Library on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/s4hana. Under Product Assistance, choose a language, Enterprise Business Applications > Manufacturing > Quality Management > Quality Planning > Basic Data (QM-PT-BD) > QM-Specific Data in the Material Master (QM-PT-BD-MM) > Creating and Changing QM Data for a Material > Editing the Inspection Setup.
- On the SAP Easy Access screen under Vehicle Sales and Service > Master Data > Quality Inspection, you have created the necessary master data and assigned the material (vehicle model) and plant to the inspection plans. With this assignment, you can have the materials (vehicle models) included in or excluded from special inspections in specific plants. For more information about inspection plans and inspection characteristics, see SAP Library on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/s4hana. Under Product Assistance, choose a language, Enterprise Business Applications > Manufacturing > Quality Management > Quality Planning.
- On the SAP Easy Access screen under Vehicle Sales and Service > Master Data > Quality Inspection > Determine Quality Inspection Plan (/DBE/QMI_I_PLAN), you have assigned an inspection plan (Group field) and a group counter. You can assign more than one inspection plan and group counter. By entering a date, you define that the inspections should be done within a certain time frame.
Features
The quality inspection is carried out using inspection lots, which contain the inspection plan. In the inspection plan you define which inspection characteristics should be checked in each inspection operation.
If the system determines more than one inspection plan and group counter when you release the service order, you can select one or more entries from a dialog box. The system automatically generates an inspection lot for each of your selections. The system assigns the service order to the inspection lot and displays the number of the inspection lot in the document flow. In the service order, the system sets the status Quality Inspection Requested.
Using the data of the inspection lot and inspection plan, the system creates inspection instructions. These instructions can either be automatically printed by the system or you can print them out manually.
In the transaction Results Recording Worklist (QE51N), you inspect the inspection characteristics and either accept or reject them. After you have entered and maintained the inspection results in this transaction, the system automatically sets the status Quality Inspection Done in the service order.
Note
When the system sets the status Quality Inspection Done, it does not check if a result has been recorded for all inspection characteristics and does not check if Accept or Reject has been selected. It merely checks if an inspection characteristic has been set.
After recording the results, you can complete the inspection by making a usage decision for the inspection lot and deciding the relevance of the inspection. The usage decision can also be made automatically.
Activities
On the SAP Easy Access screen, you choose the quality inspection transactions under Vehicle Sales and Service > Master Data > Quality Inspection and under Vehicle Sales and Service > Quality Inspection.
Example
You have created an inspection plan called General Repairs that contains the following two inspection operations and their inspection characteristics:
Inspection plan General Repairs
- Operation Inspect Repair Job
- Inspection characteristic Carry out repairs
- Inspection characteristic Condition of vehicle
- Operation Inspect Paint Job
- Inspection characteristic Color Matching
You select this inspection plan when you release the service order. The system automatically creates an inspection lot that is assigned to the service order. In the results recording, you check and valuate the above-mentioned inspection characteristics by selecting Accept or Reject for each one. Once you have saved your entries, the system sets the status Quality Inspection Done.
